The Forest Stewardship Council is an international, non-profit organisation, dedicated to creating responsible management of forests all over the world! Their labels can be found on products everywhere, and by purchasing a product or a product packaged in a box with an FSC label on it, you are supporting forests everywhere.
In order to receive an FSC label, the Council must confirm that the forest used is being managed to preserve biological diversity, meaning the protection of a variety of habitats, species and ecosystems. The forest also needs to benefit the lives of local people and workers, supporting the people who rely on the forest.
When you receive a BeNu product with an FSC label on the box, you can be sure that the box has been made with materials sourced from an FSC-certified, responsibly managed forest.
Why is it so important to protect our forests?
After oceans, forests are the world’s largest storehouses of carbon. They are critical for human survival, doing things like:
- Absorbing harmful greenhouse gases.
- Providing medicine and food.
- Proving clean and fresh water.
- Creating habitats for more than half of the world’s land-based species.
So, as you can see, forests are very essential for us and need to be protected, which is why the FSC is such an important organisation.
